{"id":105,"date":"2011-11-01T15:50:10","date_gmt":"2011-11-01T15:50:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.oneworldcharitychallenge.com\/?page_id=105"},"modified":"2022-10-10T10:01:24","modified_gmt":"2022-10-10T10:01:24","slug":"areas-to-research","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.oneworldcharitychallenge.com\/?page_id=105","title":{"rendered":"Areas to Research"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Please make sure you invite Helen in to school early in November to talk to you in depth about the research. \u00a0This page is intended to be a summary of the key points to get you going&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>There are five key areas to research\/ include in your presentation:<\/p>\n<p>1. \u00a0Clarity about the work of the charity and how effective you think it is.<\/p>\n<p>Areas to consider are:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sustainability &#8211;<\/strong> does the charity allow people to help themselves or are people dependent on the charity? Is the charity sustainable in the long term? \u00a0Do people become self-sufficient as a result of the work of the charity?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Finances &#8211;<\/strong> How do they spend their money? How much of their money goes to grass roots causes? How do they raise funds &#8211; is fundraising effective?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Resources &#8211;<\/strong> How big is the charity? Does is have many or few resources? Does it use its resources well?<\/p>\n<p>Ask yourself plenty of questions as you go through the information about the charity. Can you find other sources of information about your charity from another perspective such as news and reviews, short films, magazines etc. \u00a0Could you interview someone from the charity? \u00a0It is expected that you will make contact with your charity to ask them questions and obtain additional resources from them.<\/p>\n<p>2. Evidence you have worked closely with the charity<\/p>\n<p>3. Case study &#8211; explore the impact your charity has had on someone&#8217;s life<\/p>\n<p>You will be able to ask your charity for case studies of different people who have been helped by the work of the charity.<\/p>\n<p>4.
